As I stared at those eyes and those lips, I thought about everything that had happened tonight. My heart was beating out a rhythm so fast and so hard, I wondered if this was what a heart attack felt like. This was a big step and could be the stupidest mistake of my life. Or it could be the best thing I'd ever done. But either way, I needed to know.

I lunged up from my crouch on the floor, grabbed his face in both of my hands, and kissed him.

I kissed Joey. I touched my lips to his and those fireworks from the movies? Exploding, everywhere. From my lips to my toes.

For a second, Joey didn't move and then suddenly he was kissing me back, and oh wow. Just wow, wow, wow. I couldn't believe this is what it felt like. How did people ever go to work and school and do anything else?

I missed the moment he pulled away. I was so caught up in my own bliss it took me a second to realize the fireworks had suddenly died out.

When I opened my eyes, he was shaking his head, his fingers on his lips. His eyes were glassy and dark and confused. He jumped up and ran down the hall into the bathroom and slammed the door.

Well, crap, that wasn't quite the reaction I was looking for.

Now what?

Okay then. While Joey's locked in the bathroom, maybe we should rewind a bit. Review how this all started -- once upon a time, in a land far, far away...just kidding. Maybe.
