Phoenix Rising is a terrific story. There's a strong connection and sexual
chemistry between Jimmy and Adam that really made this story work. Both of them
have emotional baggage and believe that they weren't good enough for each other,
and because they are both so sweet it's heartbreaking that they didn't feel they
were worthy of each other's love. Their sexual encounters were hot, loving and
somewhat therapeutic. They talked and shared and showed each other their true
feelings when they made love. Outside of the bedroom, I loved how Jimmy wanted
to take care of Adam, but I also understood how Adam's pride would limit how much
he would accept from Jimmy.

Adam is a stripper and as he shows up for one of his strip-o-gram calls for a birthday
it is lust and first dance. Adam ends up in bed with Jimmy, the sexy birthday boy.
However, after a night of mind numbing sex, Adam sneaks away since he has just come off
a relationship with a man who cheated on him, so when Adam thinks Jimmy is cheating on
his lover he bolts.

out of his car and stripping just to survive. He recently broke up with his lover when he
caught him in their bed with another man.

Phoenix Rising is a positively heart wrenching love story. There are places that make your
gut clench. I admit there were parts that were so emotional I had tears in my eyes, and I
had to actually stop reading for a bit and then come back to it. Ms. Gardner is a master
storyteller who has the ability to actually make the reader feel the emotions the characters
are going through. It is never just sex with these two and she makes that abundantly clear
from the beginning. The sex, when it does happen, is blistering hot and deeply emotional
which is my favorite kind of romance read. This is one book you do not want to miss, and
should grace every romance reader's library.
