Laura Baumbach, Author, Owner/Publisher -- Laura is a graduate of Santa Ana College, Santa Ana, CA with a degree in Nursing. For thirty-four years she specialized in critical care and emergency trauma nursing. Now retired, Laura devotes herself full time to publishing and writing. She honed her business and people management skills as a hospital department head and supervisor which she puts to good use in the publishing industry. MLR Press was founded in January of 2007.
Kris Jacen is the Executive Editor and Formatting Director for ManLoveRomance Press and its imprints. She was invited to join the MLR staff in 2008 and has never looked back. Working with over thirty-five phenomenal authors such as Rick R. Reed, JP Bowie, James Buchanan, J.L. Langley, Ally Blue, Jet Mykles, William Maltese and has allowed her to both hone her editorial skills and indulge her inner fangirl. Kris also acts as editor, mentor and sounding-board for newcomers including Kimberly Gardner, Lex Valentine, S.J. Frost, Patric Michael and Z. Allora. With this stable of talent under her guidance, Kris is quick to tell anyone who will listen that she loves her job. And her authors are just as quick to say that they love their editor.
Amanda Faris, Content Editor -- Amanda Faris is from a cute little town in Colorado and is currently chained in bondage to the Japanese slave market, probably until punt kicking a small child out a window gets her deported. She likes to write ridiculous dramatizations of fairy tales and she prefers the majority of her characters to be completely insane. It balances out the smut she betas for fandoms. She's been writing since the third grade and editing since middle school. She has several short stories and articles published in various newspapers and college journals. She reads a lot. She is a cactus. Amanda was a literature major in university and worked on the campus newsletters and local newspaper as a proofreader. She also worked helping other students and writers on the net with their essays and stories.
Neil Plakcy, Content Editor -- Neil Plakcy has edited both non-fiction (Paws and Reflect: A Special Bond Between Man and Dog, Alyson Books) and fiction (Hard Hats, Surfer Boys and Skater Boys, Cleis Press) collections. He is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, where he studied English and creative writing with noted authors Philip Roth and Carlos Fuentes. He received his MFA in creative writing from Florida International University, where he won the graduate student prize in non-fiction. He is also the author of six novels and the short story collection Mahu Men (MLR Press).
Rick R. Reed, Content Editor - A graduate of Miami University with a B.A. in English and a B.S. in Mass Communications, Reed worked in the corporate world as a writer and editor for a multitude of publications and advertising agencies. For nine years, he was a senior entertainment writer for the weekly, Windy City Times. Currently, Reed writes fiction and edits books for MLR Press, Regal Crest Enterprises, and the occasional textbook publisher. He currently has more than a dozen books in print, as well as short fiction in more than 20 anthologies. He lives in Seattle, WA with his partner; visit him online at www.rickrreed.com

Proofreaders are responsible for correcting grammatical and typographical errors in our books prior to publication. The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:
